A stunning 2:09:37 effort. Beards had Olympian and 2:10 marathoner Garry Bjorklund for company until the final 10K. What happened after that is legendary! Beards 2:09:37 was just 11 seconds off Bill Rodger's all-time American record and he joined the ranks of only a select few who had ever run under 2:10 up to that time.
